Stakeholders Consultative Process for the Draft National Financial Inclusion Strategy

The Ministry of Finance has embarked on a process of developing the National Financial Inclusion Strategy with support from the World Bank under the Financial Inclusion Support Framework. A drafting committee comprising of financial sector regulatory bodies the Bank of Zambia, the Pensions and Insurance Authority and the Securities and Exchange Commission, the Competition and consumer Protection Commission, the Rural Finance Expansion Programme and the Ministry of Finance has been working over the last several months to develop the strategy.

“Hon. Mwanakatwe bemoans low insurance uptake”

The 2016 Insurance Week running under the theme “Insurance for all: for your peace of mind” was commemorated from 10th-14th October 2016 with various activities taking place around the country. The week was launched on ZNBC on 9th October 2016 by the acting Minister of Finance Hon. Margaret Mwanakatwe who bemoaned the low uptake of insurance.

Pension Schemes net assets continue to grow….

The net assets for the pension industry continued to grow steadily at 13% year-on-year from K4,997 million in 2014 to K 5,664 million in 2015[1].

However, the return on average net assets (19%) for the first time in many years fail below the 2015 annual of inflation (21%).
